The No. 21 ranked Emory University women's soccer team racked up a season-high eight goals as the Eagles blasted Covenant College, 8-0, Tuesday night on Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

Seven different players found the back of the net in the non-conference rout as Emory improved to 7-1-3 while the loss dropped the Scots to 3-4-2 on the season.

Sophomore Sophia Asiain notched a pair of strikes to lead the Eagles while senior Kaitlyn Nimmer added a goal and an assist as she continues to climb the all-time Emory career points ladder with Tuesday putting her at 107 in her career – 13 shy of the program record.

The Eagles started strong and fast against Covenant with senior Katie Hungness and Nimmer giving Emory a 2-0 lead just 9:25 into the contest. Hungness recorded her first goal of the game with a beautiful strike to the top left corner at the 3:35 minute mark before Nimmer scored her fifth of the year in the 10th minute.

Emory added three more goals in the first half with Asiain, junior Alexandra Burtis-Wyant and senior Zia Tomlin scoring for the Eagles to make the count 5-0 at the break.

Sophomore Sophia Cho quickly padded the Emory advantage just 56 seconds into the second half prior to Asiain and junior Jaymie Frith scoring in the 53rd and 56th minutes to extend the decisive margin.

For the game, the Eagles outshot Covenant 33-4 and had a 16-3 lead in shots on goal. Senior Rachel Carr and sophomore Ali White both made one save between the posts to preserve the team's fifth shutout of the season.

Emory will be back home on Saturday as the team returns to UAA play to host Brandeis at 1:30 PM.
