Meeting for the first time since the 2025 NCAA Division III national championship game, the No. 21 ranked Emory University Eagles played to a 1-1 tie against the No. 1 ranked WashU Bears Sunday afternoon at Francis Olympic Field in St. Louis, Missouri.
The draw was the Eagles' fifth of the season to move the team to 9-2-5 overall and 1-2-2 inside UAA competition while the Bears now stand at 14-0-2 and 3-0-2 in conference play with two regular season games remaining.
WashU opened the rematch by controlling possession in the first half, outshooting the Eagles 7-1 across the opening 45 minutes but senior Rachel Carr recorded four saves to help the score stay at 0-0 heading into the halftime break.
Shortly after the return from half, the Bears broke the scoreless draught as Madison Foley got past the Emory defense and ripped a shot past Carr to give WashU the one-goal advantage just 61 seconds into the second half.
The score remained 1-0 until the 77th minute when Carr prevailed on the offensive end as she converted a penalty kick for the game-tying score.
The Bears registered all four final shot attempts over the remaining 13 minutes but each attempt was off frame.
Emory will return home for a Halloween meeting with Case Western Reserve starting at 1:30 PM in Atlanta.
