Senior Ben Pearce added more weekly recognition to his resume as he was named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for games played during the period of December 15-January 4. This is Pearce's second career selection to the National Team of the Week, having previously been honored as a freshman.
The University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week, Pearce had a dominating four-game stretch over the holidays as he led No. 3 ranked men's basketball to a 4-0 record against very strong opponents: Christopher Newport (98-65), TCNJ (95-69), Bates (104-66), and Hampden-Sydney (101-73). He averaged 24 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and two steals per game. Pearce tied a career-high with 35 points to go along with a season-best 11 assists in the win over HSC.
Pearce is the second Eagle to be named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week this season, joining junior Ethan Fauss who was selected previously on November 25.
The Eagles open UAA play this Saturday with a road contest at University of Rochester. Tipoff from The Palestra is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
