The Emory University women's basketball program dropped its first game of the 2025-26 season on Sunday afternoon to the No. 8 Washington & Lee Generals in Lexington, Virginia.
The Eagles now hold a 10-1 record on the season and will begin conference play on Saturday, January 10
th at 2:00 PM at Rochester. Emory was led by four athletes reaching double digits while teammates
Tatum Olson and
Chloe Kreusser both earned double-doubles in the matchup.
Washington & Lee got an early jump at the start of the game taking a 10-point, 12-2 lead with 6:00 minutes on the clock. Both programs scored five points in the next three minutes before the Eagles ended the first quarter with a 7-2 run for a 19-14 deficit.
In the first three minutes of the second quarter, Emory looked to close in on the Generals coming to a four-point deficit but Washington & Lee continued to battle taking a 28-20 lead with 5:42 remaining in the half. A free throw and a three pointer from junior

Lily Kennedy brought the score to a 35-31 Generals lead heading into the locker room.
Coming out of the break, both teams continued fighting back and forth with Washington & Lee going on a 16-10 run in the first seven minutes of the third quarter. Emory's defense came out swinging while the offense went on a 10-0 run to tie the game at 51 points apiece. Washington & Lee landed a layup in the final ten seconds to hold a 53-51 advantage at the end of the quarter.
Emory claimed the lead for the first time in the game on a three pointer from junior
Riley Allen but the Eagles were held scoreless for the next three minutes giving the Generals a 59-58 lead. Emory tied the game again at 59-59 but Washington & Lee was able to finish the game with a 9-4 run to clinch the win.
The Eagles will return to the court on Saturday, January 10 at 2:00 PM to face the Rochester Yellowjackets in the first UAA game of the season.
