#4 Women's Soccer Takes Down St. Catherine, 2-0, in Monday Meeting

The No. 4 ranked Emory University women's soccer team concluded its trip to Minnesota with another win Monday afternoon, taking down St. Catherine University, 2-0, on its home field in St. Paul.

The Eagles were spearheaded by a pair of goals that bookended the halftime period while senior Sophia Garcia made three saves for her second straight shutout.

Junior Kaitlyn Nimmer broke a scoreless tie in the 41st minute when she fired a shot from straight on from the top of the 18. The unassisted goal was Nimmer's third in as many games.

When the team's returned to play in the second half, junior Emily Woodall doubled the Emory advantage in the 53rd minute with her first of the season. A looping pass to the inside of the six found the back of a St. Kate defender. The rebound bounced out to Woodall who ripped a one-timer to the left post to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

With the two-goal edge, the Emory defense allowed just two shots from the Wildcats over the 31 minutes with only being on frame in the 59th minute.

The Eagles will return home for a Thursday night matchup against Covenant before heading to the state of North Carolina for three straight matches starting Sunday against No. 13 ranked Washington & Lee University in Raleigh.
