#2 Women's Soccer Extends Win Streak to Eight Following 6-1 Beatdown Over Lynchburg

The No. 2 ranked Emory University women's soccer team added another impressive win to its resume Sunday afternoon as the Eagles dominated rival University of Lynchburg, 6-1, at the Charlotte Soccer Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Emory ran its winning streak to eight games with the victory with the help of five different goal scorers. Junior Kaitlyn Nimmer had a showcase afternoon with a goal and two assists while classmate Madison Teng notched a brace.

The Eagles won the shots battle, 21-6, and were impressive with the shots on goal margin with a 12-2 edge. Nimmer led both teams with six total shots, including three on frame.

Nimmer set the tone for the contest soon after the opening kickoff as she put the Eagles on the scoreboard just two minutes into the game. The goal was her fifth of the campaign.

Emory had a quick burst of action later in the first half as Teng and sophomore Mikayla Camp netted goals 85 seconds apart from each other. Teng and Nimmer synced up at the 18:13 mark with Teng scoring straight on to the right post. Moments later, Camp tucked a shot into the back of the net for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Shortly after the teams returned from the halftime break, junior Emily Woodall found her way on the scoresheet with an unassisted strike in the 49th minute.

Teng recorded another goal as the tandem of Nimmer and Teng partnered for another marker to make it a 5-0 score at the 56:47 mark. Freshman Tatum Janezich rounded out the scoring with her second goal of the season, making it a 6-0 game with 29:29 remaining in the half.

Lynchburg ended Emory's shutout streak in the 69th minute to provide the final 6-1 margin. Prior to the Hornets' goal, the Eagles had gone 566:48 minutes without allowing an opposition goal having previously let in a score on September 3rd against Berry College.

Emory will be back at home this Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against Atlanta-based foe Oglethorpe. Kickoff from the WoodPEC is set for 7:00 PM.
