#4 Women’s Soccer Rallies in Final Minutes to Knock Off No. 2 Columbus State (DII), 3-2

The No. 4 ranked Emory women's soccer opened the regular season at home with a thrilling, come-from-behind victory to knock off Division II's No. 2 ranked Columbus State 3-2.

The Eagles (1-0) started the home season strong thanks to two last-minute goals: one from junior Madison Teng in the 86th minute and a penalty kick by sophomore Mikayla Camp in the 87th minute.

Emory pressed CSU throughout the game and they did the same, with both teams finding themselves nearly even in shots going into halftime with CSU at nine and Emory at ten shots on goal.

The Cougars scored early with Michelle Medina getting a goal on the board in the 39th minute, but Emory responded in the second half with a goal by Jaymie Frith in the 58th minute with classmate Emory Bozzuti picking up the first of her two assists on the night.

It didn't take CSU long to find themselves back in scoring range with Shania Wegesend scoring CSU's second goal in the 65th minute, but Emory was relentless in their attack and evened the score in the 86th with the marker from Teng.

With an even score heading into the end of the game, Camp responded with a clean penalty kick after being taken down in the box to give the Eagles the edge they needed to take down the Cougars.

The Emory Eagles will be back at the WoodPEC Wednesday night to take on Berry College at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed on FloCollege and can be found here.
