Nikki Boon earned the "World's Greatest Athlete" title on Sunday evening after claiming the 2025 Women's Decathlon World Championship Title in Geneva, Ohio.
Boon competed in the two-day event at the SPIRE Academy in Ohio against 18 other athletes spanning from five different countries. She held down second place following the first five events on Saturday and moved into first following a standout performance in the discus and pole vault. She scored 7,451 points to set a national record for the Netherlands and places her No. 10 on the all-time world list.
Following a fifth place performance in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.81, Boon threw a distance of 41.11m in the discus for a second place finish. Her mark moves her into the top-10 all time throws in the history of the Women's Decathlon World Championships. Having never competed live in the pole vault, she posted a 3.00m mark in the event still holding onto first place.
Boon finished third in the javelin (40.41m) before entering the final event, the 1500m run. She needed a seven second advantage over the athlete in second place to secure the win and she finished with a time of 5:17.70 to claim the championship title.
