Emory University track and field standout Nikki Boon competed in the first day of the 2025 Decathlon World Championships and holds down the second place in the competition.
Boon, the only competitor from the Netherlands, is competing against 18 other athletes from France, Canada, and the United States. She stands five points behind the leader after five of the 10 events.
Her day started with a fourth place finish in the 100m dash with a time of 12.23 before she took second in the long jump (5.91m), shot put (12.72m) and 400m (57.06). She also finished seventh in the high jump (1.57m) to give her 3962 points after the first day.
