Game 1: Emory 9, Berry 4

The Vikings took an early lead in the second inning taking advantage of back-to-back singles for a 2-0 lead but junior Mackenzie Duford was able to close things out in the circle to send the game to the third inning.

Emory opened the third inning with three straight singles to load the bases followed by a sacrifice fly from sophomore Grace Cooper to give the Eagles their first run of the game. With two outs, fellow sophomore Lillian Ware drove a two-run double to left center to give Emory a 3-2 advantage after the third inning.

Duford was able to keep Berry scoreless in the bottom of the third inning allowing the Eagles to extend their lead in the top of the fourth. Junior Ashley Chu opened the inning with a walk and two stolen bases to reach third followed by a walk to junior Ella Hoyle. Teammate Ellie Zerr added to her extra base hit total with a two-RBI double to right field pushing Emory to a three-run lead.

Emory added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning notching four hits in the frame including a two RBI single up the middle from Hoyle to give the Eagles a 7-2 lead. Once again, the bases were loaded in the top of the seventh for Emory before a walk and a hit by pitch to Hoyle and Zerr brought in the eighth and ninth runs of the game. The Vikings added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh but sophomore Georgia Pineda was able to close out the game for the win.
