Another day, another national championship for the Emory University track & field program as graduate student
Eva Carchidi won gold in the 400m Dash on the final day of the NCAA Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
Carchidi joins fellow graduate student
Nikki Boon as outdoor national champions at the 2025 NCAA Championships. She is the first woman in program history to win a national title in the 400m and is the second-ever to do so, joining Daniel Pietsch who won the event for the men in 2016. Carchidi had a memorable race as she ran a program record mark of 53.94 to win in dramatic fashion.
Graduate student
Dawit Dean turned in a monumental race of his own following Carchidi as he was the national runner-up in the 800m Run - representing the best finish ever by an Eagle in the event. Dean notched a 1:50.36 as he used his after burners down the home stretch to try and catch the leader but ultimately ran out of real estate to secure silver.
In the third event of the day, senior
Jackson Price capped off his storied Emory career by reaching the podium in the 200m Dash. Price was in the thick of it during the race and crossed the finish line with a time of 21.29 to record a fourth place finish - his second All-America honor in the outdoor event and his best finish ever.
Carchidi rounded out the day's festivities as she returned to the track 90 minutes after winning the 400m title looking for more hardware in the 200m. Carchidi posted a time of 24.32 but narrowly missed out on reaching the podium for a second time on Saturday as she placed ninth.
Both the men's and women's teams ended the three-day national championship meet in 11th place in the team standings. Boon and Carchidi's wins helped the Emory women score 20 points while Dean, Price and junior
Henry Brandstadter notched 17 combined points for the men.
