The Emory University women's track and field program brought home a second place finish at the 2025 UAA Outdoor Championships on Sunday afternoon, the best team finish since 2016.
The Eagles finished in second with 189 points with 13 All-UAA finishes while the WashU women took home the title with 222 total points. Emory also saw two more program records broken from graduate students
Nikki Boon and
Eva Carchidi.
Late into the night on Saturday, Boon competed in the long jump taking home the UAA title with a program record breaking distance of 5.96m. Boon also took home first in the javelin (40.41m) and All-UAA status in the high jump (1.58m). Teammate
Mable Mutumwa also competed in the javelin with Boon finishing third with a distance of 37.03m.
Finishing the All-UAA honors in field events was freshman
Jeanette Hydukovich who finished third in the discus with a 41.15m mark. Also earning points for the women were teammates
Caroline Hansen, Amaya Grant and
Audrey Johnson in the triple jump as well as
Anna Jennings in the long jump.
Starting the day and earning points for Emory was junior
Madison Tiaffay who took home a 5
th place finish in the 1500m run early in the morning. Boon earned another All-UAA finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.31 while freshman
Melayna Pettigrew finished fourth (15.88). Later in the 400m hurdles, freshman
Izzie Thompson earned points with her sixth place finish while Pettigrew finished seventh in the event.
In the sprints, freshman
Jada Kenner led the way in the 100m dash taking third with a time of 12.16. Teammates
Kaya Binetti, Maura Dianno and Johnson also earned points in the event with their top-eight finishes.
After setting the program record in the 200m in prelims, she did it again in the finals taking first with a time of 23.85 while Kenner finished second for All-UAA status. Carchidi also took home the UAA title in the 400m dash with a time of 54.56. Teammate
Luna McCauley finished the All-UAA individuals with a third place finish in the 800m running a 2:16.42 while senior
Liesl Scherrer rounded out the scoring with a fourth place finish in the 5000m run.
The Eagles saw two relays earn All-UAA status including a UAA title from the 4x100m relay team of
Dashiel Tao Harris, Carchidi, Kenner and Johnson. Later, the group of Harris, Kenner, Carchidi and Boon teamed up for the 4x400m relay finishing second with a time of 3:49.89.
