#6 Men's Tennis Trounces Trinity, 4-3

The No. 6 ranked Emory men's tennis team got its trip to Texas started on Friday afternoon, taking on the Trinity Tigers on their home court. Looking for their sixth win in their past seven dual matches, the Eagles took down the top four singles matches to narrowly earn a 4-3 win over the Tigers. The match was played at Trinity University's Butch Newman Tennis Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Emory stumbled out of the gate, though, dropping the match's singles point. Freshman Ruilin Feng and sophomore Christian Liew kept their winning ways rolling along, earning the victory in the No. 1 doubles spot, 6-3. The duo is now 12-2 in dual matches this season.

The Eagles were unable to come away with a win on the remaining courts, as graduate student Efe Comu and freshman Alec Anghel fell on court two, 4-6, and freshmen Ajay Kartik and Joshua Lai were dropped, 2-6.

Needing a strong singles performance to secure a win, the top portion of the lineup delivered. The Eagles seized victories from their top four players in the lineup to come away with the win.

Feng's domination on the Division III circuit continued into Friday, earning another win in the top-spot for Emory. He won his back-and-forth singles match with a line of 7-5, 5-7, 7-5. His rookie season dual match record improves to 12-3 with the win.

Comu competed on court two for the Eagles and also went to a third set. He won the first set, 7-5, before falling in the ensuing frame, 4-6. He would go on to win the final set, 6-4. This marked the fifth-consecutive singles victory for the graduate student.

Liew had a strong showing on court three, winning his match in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-3. He improves to 8-6 during his sophomore campaign. Rounding out the wins for Emory was Force, who completely dominated his opponent, sweeping his match, 6-2 and 6-1, on court four.

Kartik fell in his match on court five, 5-7 and 2-6, while Anghel was on the wrong side of a 3-6, 0-6 decision on court six.

The Eagles improve to 12-5 on the year with the win. They'll have tomorrow off before they get set to take on the #17 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. The match will be played at a neutral site in San Antonio, Texas at 12:00 PM on Sunday, April 20th.
