Women’s Track and Field Takes Third at UAA Indoor Championships

The Emory University track and field team turned in another impressive day of competition at the 2025 UAA Indoor Championships to take home a third place finish.
 
Competing at the Henry Crown Fieldhouse in Chicago, Illinois, the Eagles finished third with 112 points while Chicago took the silver with 160.5 points. WashU took the top spot with 181 points to round out the top three.
 
Emory saw seven All-UAA finishes on the day while graduate student Eva Carchidi led the way with her individual title in the 200m finals with a time of 24.74, just .01 seconds off of her program record breaking time yesterday in the prelims. Also competing in the 200m finals alongside Carchidi were seniors Kaya Binetti and Audrey Johnson who scored points for the Eagles with their fourth and sixth place finishes.
 
The three later competed in the 60m dash finals with Carchidi earning All-UAA honors with a second place finish. Binetti and Johnson also took fourth and sixth again following right behind. Senior Madison Tiaffay also earned All-UAA honors in the mile event to start the day taking second with a time of 4:55.45 followed by an eighth place finish from sophomore Payton Fleming.
 
Senior Liesl Scherrer later competed in the 3000m finals scoring points with her fifth place, 9:56.58 run. Rounding out the distance events was freshman Rowan Miller and Tiaffay taking sixth and eighth in the 800m run finals.
 
The 4x400m relay group of Johnson, Carchidi, Boon and Binetti finished the running events with a third place, 3:57.69 run.
 
Graduate student Nikki Boon had another impressive day placing third in the 60m hurdles finals with a time of 8.83. Her second individual All-UAA finish of the day came in the shot put where she took third with a distance of 13.05m. Teammates Sarah Fineman and Jeanette Hydukovich followed behind with fourth and fifth place finishes to earn points for Emory. Finishing the All-UAA honors was freshman Amaya Grant who notched a personal best 11.56m mark in the triple jump for a third place finish in the event.
 
The Eagles will travel to last chance qualifiers next weekend before traveling to Rochester, NY for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 14 and 15.
