Baseball Routs Huntingdon, 15-0, in Firehouse Classic Finale

Backed by a complete game shutout from junior Adam Geller, the Emory University baseball program won the Firehouse Classic finale over the host Huntingdon Hawks, 15-0 in seven innings, Sunday afternoon in Montgomery, Alabama.

Geller was flawless on the mound for the Eagles as he earned his first win of the 2025 campaign. Across his seven frames, Geller scattered six singles, walked only one batter and struck out a career-high nine batters.

The third-year right-hander got ample amount of run support for his outing as well as the Eagles poured in a season-high 15 runs on 12 hits. Senior Matthew Sicoli was one of three Eagles to drive in multiple runs as the 3-4-5 hole of the Emory lineup combined to drive in eight of the 15 runs. Sicoli went 2-for-2 with four RBI in the win while classmate Jack Halloran added two RBI in his 2-for-3 afternoon. Sophomore Aidan Conley matched Halloran in the RBI department as he went 2-for-6 and had one of the team's four extra-base hits.

The Eagles did damage early on as they scored in each frame between the second and fifth stanzas after being held scoreless in the top of the first.

Following a single run in the second and two runs in the third, Emory sent nine batters to the plate in the fourth as they busted the game open with a four spot. Sicoli had one of his four RBIs in the inning and the Eagles took advantage of poor play on the mound from Hawks hurlers, scoring additional runs with bases loaded walks, hit-by-pitches and wild pitches.

The onslaught continued in the fifth as Conley and Halloran increased the Eagles lead to 9-0.

Emory saved its largest output for the seventh though when the Eagles batted around the lineup once more, sending 11 batters to the plate to score six more times and put the game in mercy rule territory. The first seven batters in the inning reached base safely with big hits coming from the middle of the order as Conley, Halloran and Sicoli had three straight doubles to help build a 12-0 lead. Sophomore Jonathan Lang tacked on a run with bases loaded fielder's choice prior to senior Brok Liu scoring Corey Goldstick on a sac fly. The final run of the game came from freshman James DelGaudio who plated Lang for his first RBI as an Eagle.

The Eagles will continue their road swing on Tuesday with a matchup at LaGrange College before returning to Atlanta next weekend for a three-game series against Middlebury College.
