Two Emory University student-athletes were recognized Monday afternoon for their performances during the week of October 20-26 as they were named University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week.
Freshman Xinyi Zheng from the women's golf team earned her first collegiate win at the Historic Triangle Invitational last week ending with a playoff on the 18th hole. In the win, Emory finished first with a two-day score of 588 (+12). Zheng had the best round of her career thus far shooting a 68 (-4) on the second day of the tournament for a tie with CMU's Samantha Wang. Zheng shot four birdies and one bogey on the front nine and shot one under on the last nine holes to finish with a two-day score of 143 (-1). Zheng and Wang competed in a playoff on the 18th hole with Zheng coming out on top for the individual title.
For men's diving, sophomore Solly Berkenwald once more shined as Emory's top performer on the boards as the Eagles toppled Sewanee in a dual meet on Saturday. On the 1-meter, Berkenwald posted a score of 287.55 and on the 3-meter, he came through with a winning mark of 335.48.
