Mikayla Camp's First Career Hat Trick Leads Eagles Past Berry, 6-0

Freshman Mikayla Camp continued to headline the Emory University women's soccer team's torrid start to the 2024 season as she recorded her first-ever hat trick as the Eagles handled Berry College, 6-0, Sunday afternoon in Mount Berry, Georgia.

Camp scored three of the Eagles' goals on Sunday, including two in the second half, as Emory improved to 3-0 through the first two weekends. As a team, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 15-0 and have out shot their counterparts 91-7 (47-3 in shots on goal). Camp has scored in each of her first three career games and leads the team with five goals.

Against the Vikings, Emory led 29-3 in total shots and 16-2 in shots on goals. The Eagles did not allow a single shot across the final 45 minutes to collect the third clean sheet of the season.

Sophomore Katie Hungness led off the scoring as she picked up her second goal of the season by scoring in the 10th minute following the pass from classmate Kaitlyn Nimmer. Twelve minutes later at 21:01, Camp scored the first of her three markers with senior Claudia Schmidt tacking on the assist.

Sophomore Emily Woodall found the scoring column in the final minute of the first half, scoring an unassisted goal for her first of the season.

Camp continued the scoring binge in the second half with goals in the 47th and 58th minutes to increase the Emory advantage. Junior Riley Miller earned her first assist with the feed at the 46:56 mark.

Freshman Melina Ramirez joined in with her first career goal in the 80th minute to round out the Emory scorers. Classmate Lilyana Laryea notched her first career point with the assist.

The Eagles look to continue their roll next weekend in Greensboro, North Carolina where Emory will face Christopher Newport and Guilford College on Saturday and Sunday.
