The Emory University women's golf team won its third University Athletic Association championship Tuesday afternoon, defeating top-seeded Carnegie Mellon University 4-1 at Elks Run Golf Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The conference title is the third for the Eagles over the past four seasons and the first under Head Coach Liz Fernandes. The championships also brings Emory's department total to 223 in its history.
The Eagles avenged last year's UAA finals defeat to the Tartans by taking four of the five matches contested in the match-play format. Freshman Zimo Li, senior Ellen Dong and sophomore Esther Jung provided the match-clinching wins for the Eagles against the reigning national champions.
