The Emory University men's basketball team continued its tour around Spain with their second contest of the trip, playing against the Valencia All-Stars on Monday. Despite a well-rounded team performance, the Eagles were on the other side of a 93-88 verdict.
Junior
Jair Knight paced seven Emory players in the scoring column with 22 points while adding eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior
Logan Shanahan added 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the second straight game.
Junior
Ben Pearce nearly missed a double-double with his 14 points and nine assists. He added five rebounds and a pair of steals. Sophomore
Ethan Fauss matched Shanahan's total in rebounding while registering 13 points and knocked down a team-best three triples. Fellow sophomore
AJ Harris rounded out the Eagles in double figures as he notched 10 points.
"Being able to create runs and to stop runs leads to success and creates momentum," Head Coach
Jason Zimmerman stated following the game. "Going into halftime we had created a flow. We weren't as sharp after halftime and our shooting led to poor execution defensively. Proud of the fact that we battled back and took the lead in the fourth quarter and gave ourselves an opportunity to win the game."
"We learned some great lessons today and we enjoyed our time in Valencia as it is a spectacular city," Zimmerman continued. "We are looking forward to our last stop in Barcelona."
