The Emory University volleyball program saw its 20th win of the season after defeating the Roanoke College Maroons on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Eagles improve to 20-1 on the season, the second straight season with a 20-1 start, and extend their winning streak to 16 matches. Junior Leneia Niko had a career day totaling a career-high five blocks and five kills in the win competing in all three sets. Senior Lily Martin helped lead the Eagles offensively posting nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage. Senior Sarah Luong also had an impressive day posting 18 assists, her second most this season.

Martin and fellow senior Alana Dawson helped open the first set strong for the Eagles taking a 5-1 lead on four kills. The Maroons looked for a comeback later in the set cutting Emory's lead to two but the Eagles answered with a 6-2 run with two service aces to take a 16-10 advantage towards the middle of the set. Emory was later able to take advantage of attack errors from Roanoke's offense to take a 10-point, 22-12 lead but the Maroons weren't done yet ending the set on a 5-3 run. The Eagles finished the first set with a 25-17 score.

The Eagles dominated the start of the second set taking a 6-2 lead with two kills and an ace. After later holding a slight 7-5 advantage, Emory went on a dominating run allowing just five more points to the Maroons in the set. The Eagles posted six straight points holding an 11 point lead before ending on a 7-2 run highlighted by kills from Martin and junior Kaya Monrose to end the set with a 25-10 line.

Roanoke took their first lead of the match to start the third set opening with a 5-4 lead. Monrose was able to tie the match at five apiece for the Eagles but the Maroons followed with a 6-2 run to hold an 11-7 advantage. Five kills and a service ace from Emory's offense helped them take the lead back from Roanoke taking a slight 15-14 lead in the middle of the set. The scoring continued on both sides of the net but senior Eliane Silberman posted three kills at the end of the set to secure the 25-21 win for the Eagles in set three.

The Eagles will return to the WoodPEC on Friday, November 8 to host the annual Emory Invitational. Emory will face the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels and the Washington and Lee Generals on Friday at 2:00 PM and 6:30 PM respectively before competing again on Saturday.
