Four Emory University student-athletes were named University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Graduate student Brigid Hanley from cross country and freshman Zimo Li from women's golf both secured their third weekly honor of the season while volleyball senior Alana Dawson and men's tennis sophomore Christian Liew each earned their second honor of the fall.
Hanley led the way for Emory at the Upstate Invitational on Saturday, finishing first individually out of 192 runners. The graduate student dashed to a 17:18.9 finish at the 5k distance to set a new personal-best. Hanley was one of four Eagles to finish in the top-10 as the Eagles won the event with ease.
At the Golfweek October Classic, Li won the individual title and helped the Eagles to a third place team finish. Li shot under par during each of her three rounds to top the field of 124 golfers in Destin, Florida. She tied a program record with her 54-hole total of 210 and won the tournament by four strokes.
Dawson helped the Eagles to another win on Saturday, as Emory swept Berry College at home in the Eagles' first match in Atlanta in over a month. In the match, Dawson competed in three sets while totaling 10 kills, her fourth double-digit kills match this season, and posted a .500 hitting percentage. She also picked up an assist and a block in the match.
Liew continues to impress on the court this season as he competed alongside his teammates in the UNC-Greensboro Spartan Invitational on Sunday. Alongside fellow ITA South Regional Doubles Champion freshman Ruilin Feng, Liew won at the No. 1 position (6-4) against Queens University of Charlotte. He then teamed up with junior Dean Kamenev to take down their next matchup against Radford, also by a score of 6-4. In singles, he secured a straight victory, taking down UNCG's Thomson (6-3, 6-1) in the No. 3 position, before winning his second match in the No. 2 spot against Queens University of Charlotte's Steveker (6-4, 6-4).
