The Emory men's tennis team concluded play at the ITA Cup on Saturday, with each representative playing their third and final match of the event. The ITA Cup was hosted at the Rome Tennis Center in Mount Berry, Georgia.
After dropping his second-round match yesterday, graduate student
Efe Comu played in a consolation match against Denison's Kael Shalin Shah. The two battled in their first set, needing a tiebreaker to decide a winner. Comu went blow-for-blow with Shah, but dropped the opening set, 6(7)-7(9). Shah would sweep the match, winning the second set, 6-2.
Junior
John Lasanajak, faced off with Tufts' Vuk Vuksanovic. Prior to the event, Vuksanovic earned the tournament's No. 2 seed. Lasanajak battled with his opponent, but ultimately fell in straight sets (1-6, 2-6).
Freshman
Ruilin Feng and sophomore
Christian Liew competed in the consolation bracket of the doubles draw, matched up with Claremont-Mudd-Scripss' Caleb Settles and Brandon Vu. The Emory duo fell in straight sets, dropping their match, 2-6 and 3-6.
The Eagles will be back in action next weekend, partaking in the Spartan Fall Invitational hosted by UNC Greensboro. The event will stretch three days, starting on Friday, October 18
th and concluding on Sunday, October 20
th.
