The Emory men's tennis team saw four members of the team make the trip to the Rome Tennis Center in Mount Berry, Georgia for the ITA Cup. The event got started on Thursday morning, with one round of singles and one round of doubles play taking place.
 
Graduate student Efe Comu and junior John Lasanajak both competed in the singles draw and won their opening match. Meanwhile freshman Ruilin Feng and sophomore Christian Liew took part in the doubles draw, but fell short in their first-round match.
 
After winning the ITA South Regional, Comu picked up right where he left off. Taking on Middlebury's Neel Epstein, Comu was efficient in his match. He won the first set 6-1 before swiftly punching his ticket to the next round with a 6-4 set win. Comu will get set to take on the draw's No. 3 seeded Aiden Drover-Mattinen, a senior from Rensselaer Polytechnic, in the following round.
 
Lasanajak earned his way into the tournament with an at-large bid after finishing as the ITA South Regional runner-up with wins over some of the nation's top players. He continued his stretch of strong play, topping Trinity's Ryan Warren in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-3. Lasanajak will take on the draw's No. 4 seed, Denison's Ethan Green in the following round.
 
Feng and Liew lost their doubles match in a back-and-forth struggle, falling to Tufts' Alex Ganchev and Sacha Maes. The duo dropped their match in straight sets, falling 4-6 and 5-7. With the loss, they move to the consolation bracket where they'll take on Mary Washington's tandem of Evan Fisher and Brock Ladehoff.
 
Play will resume tomorrow with singles play beginning at 11:00 AM at the Rome Tennis Center. Liew and Feng's consolation match is slated to get started at 3:00 PM.
