Emory Men's Tennis Rolls By Sewanee

The No. 1-ranked Emory men's tennis team started a three-match road swing on a positive note Tuesday afternoon, registering a victory over the University of the South.  The Eagles won for the third straight time and raised their spring slate to 11-4 following a 9-0 decision over the No. 18-ranked Tigers who slipped to 16-3.

Emory started out quickly, by capturing all three doubles matches, two of which closely-play affairs.  Sophomore Adrien Bouchet and junior Max Renke battled to a 9-8 triumph at No. 2, their 10th win in 14 decisions this spring, while the No. 1 team of junior Scott Rubinstein and sophomore James Spaulding claimed an 8-6 decision over Jack Grey and Alejandro Becker at No. 1.  Senior Aman Manji and sophomore Jonathan Jemison picked up the first doubles point at No. 3, posting an 8-1 win.

The Eagles were dominant in singles, winning all six matches in straight sets.  Senior Josh Goodman won his seventh straight outing and boosted his dual record to 10-3 following a 6-4, 6-4 outcome over Scott Gallimore at No. 6.  Jemison won for the 12th time in 15 decisions this spring with a methodical 6-1, 6-4, takedown of Carro at the No. 2 slot.  Manji was solid at first singles, topping Avery Schober, 6-2, 6-4, while Bouchet came away with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Jack Gray at No. 3, raising his spring slate to 7-5. Spaulding at No. 4 and Alec Josepher at No. 5 recorded victories as well.

Emory returns to action on Thursday (Apr. 13) when it ventures to NCAA Division I member Georgetown University.
