The No. 1-ranked Emory men's tennis team got back into the win column Saturday afternoon with a victory at Trinity University. The Eagles upped their spring record to 9-4 following a 6-3 triumph over the No. 15-ranked Tigers who slipped to 9-9.
Emory won two of three doubles matches with the No. 3 team of senior Aman Manji and sophomore Jonathan Jemison accounting for the Eagles' first point with an 8-6 verdict over TU's Liam Crawley and Jordan Pitts. With the match tied, 1-1, junior Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding prevailed at No. 1, edging Matt Tyer and Wilson Lambeth, 9-8, raising their spring record to 7-6.
Emory captured four of the six outcomes in singles, with Manji registering a 7-5, 6-2 triumph over Chas Meyer, his ninth win in 14 decisions this spring (18-5 overall). At second singles, Jemison bested Lambeth, 6-4, 6-2, raising his spring mark to 10-3, 15-4 since the start of the year. Junior Alex Josepher won at No. 5, defeating McKenna Fujitani, 7-6, 6-2, while senior Josh Goodman prevailed over Clayton Niess at six singles, 6-2, 6-4.
Emory returns to action on Sunday when it squares off against No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Austin, Texas.
