The No. 9-ranked Emory volleyball team closed out its Invitational with a pair of solid outings on Saturday.  The Eagles rolled to 3-0 victories over Transylvania (25-12, 25-10, 25-13) and Wellesley (25-5, 25-21, 25-14), boosting its win streak to four matches and overall record to 8-3.

As was the case on Friday, Emory came through with a pair of stout defensive efforts that saw it hold both opponents to a minus hitting percentage.  The Blues of Wellesley posted a hitting mark of -.040 (18-22—101) contrasted to Emory's .261 (35-11—92), while the Pioneers of TU hit a -.114 (18-28—88) compared to the Eagles' .314 (39-12—86).  Over the four matches during the weekend, Emory compiled a .275 hitting performance (147-47—363) to the opposition's effort of -.031 (82-94—393).

Senior Kathryn Trinka pounded out a match-high 11 kills in the Wellesley contest, her third double-figure performance of the season, and hit .429 (11-2—21). Senior Jessica Holler totaled six terminations and continued her serving prowess, dishing out four aces. Freshman Andie McKinnon registered a match-best 14 digs and helped the Eagles to a 56-41 edge in that category.

Holler paced the Emory attack against Maryville, with her match-leading 13 kills representing the eighth time this year she had reached double figures.  Holler closed out the match hitting a blistering .571 (13-1—21) and she also added five (2-3) total blocks. Freshman Sarah Porter dished out 24 assists, and McKinnon once again led the Eagles with 12 digs.

During the Invitational, Holler averaged team highs in kills (3.25 kps), blocks (1.33 bps) and hitting percentage (.443), with Trinka second in attack percentage (.310) and third in kills average (2.73 kps).

Emory returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 20, when it travels to Berry College (8-3) for a 7:00 pm contest.
