Emory's Khadijah Sayyid Named UAA Women's Basketball Player Of The Week

Box Score

Emory University junior Khadijah Sayyid (Longmont, CO) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week following her efforts in helping the Eagles to victories over Oglethorpe University and Berry College.  It is the second straight week and second time in her career that she has been selected for the award.

The 5-foot-2 Sayyid  averaged 23.5 points, shooting 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the floor, and 12.0 rebounds in helping the Eagles boost their record to 3-0.   She sank nine-of-15 from the floor and eight-of-10 from the foul line en route to a career-high 26 points in the 80-61 decision over the Stormy Petrels of OU, and also grabbed a personal-best 15 boards in that game that tied the 15th-highest individual total in school history.  She followed that outing with a 21-point, nine-rebound effort in a 75-70 outcome against Berry, concluding that affair by hitting seven-of-13 from the field, including two-of-four from three-point range, and five free throws.

Sayyid has scored 20 or more points in each of Emory's first three contests.

After hosting Birmingham Southern on Tuesday (Nov. 25), Emory returns to action on Sunday (Nov. 30) when it plays at Maryville College.
