The No. 6-ranked Emory volleyball team battled its way to a impressive Sunday afternoon win at No. 14-ranked Chicago in the final match of the University Athletic Association Round Robin I. The Eagles upped their overall record to 19-3, 3-0 in the league, following a 27-25, 25-23, 25-11 decision over the Maroons who slipped to 15-5 overall, 2-1 in the conference.
Emory hit .333 (44-10—102) in the contest compared to UC's effort of .084 (30-21—107). The Eagles recorded a 49-40 edge in digs and finished with a 7.5-5 advantage in total blocks. Senior Breanah Bourque paced the squad with a match-high 15 kills while ending the affair hitting .394 (15-2—33). Sophomore Cami Silverman was the other Emory performer to record double-figures in terminations with 12. Sophomore Kate Bowman chipped in nine kills and her 11 digs were second to freshman Taylor Erwin's 12. Freshman Sydney Miles registered 28 assists and contributed five digs along with a pair of block assists in the victory.
Emory returns to action the weekend of Oct. 13-14 when it competes at the UAA Round Robin II in Pittsburgh.
