The No. 6-ranked Emory volleyball team  closed out a perfect weekend on Saturday afternoon with a pair of victories on the final day of the Emory Invitational.  The Eagles bettered Maryville College by a 3-0 margin (25-20, 25-15, 25-20) before registering a similar outcome against Williams College (25-17, 25-16, 25-23).  Emory now stands 15-2 on the year.

Senior Breanah Bourque chalked up match highs with 12 kills and five (2-3) total blocks in keying the triumph against Maryville.   Senior Alex Duhl chipped in nine terminations and hit .455 (9-2—16).  Sophomore Cami Silverman came through with eight kills and 10 digs.  Emory hit .238 (45-16—122) compared to the Scots' mark of .125 (27-14—104).  The Eagles finished with a 59-50 margin in digs, led by freshman Taylor Erwin's 13, her 14th contest with double figures in that category this season.

Emory hit .300 or higher in each of the three sets against Williams and registered a final hitting percentage of .324 (46-12—105) against the Ephs.   Outdug by a 42-41 count, Emory enjoyed a decided advantage at the net with eight total blocks compared to a pair by Williams.  Sophomore Kate Bowman pounded out 17 kills, tying her second-highest career total, en route to compiling a .400 hitting percentage.  Five Eagles recorded five or more terminations including Bourque with seven and Silverman with six.   Freshman Sydney Miles dished out 35 assists and posted four total blocks (1-3).

Bourque was named MVP of the Invitational after playing in all 13 of the team's sets and hitting a squad-high .403 (39-8-77).  In addition, she topped the clubs in blocks with a 1.15 per-set average.  Other Eagles to lands spots on the Invitational's all-tournament team included Duhl and sophomore Cat McGrath.

Emory closes out a six-match homestand on Tuesday (Sept. 25) when it entertains Birmingham Southern at 4:00 p.m., and Lee University at 7:00 p.m.
