Junior Breanah Bourque and senior Amelia McCall combined for 25 kills in leading the No. 4-ranked Emory volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Wheaton College in the opening match of the Doc Partin Classic on the Emory campus.  The win boosted the Eagles' record to 4-1 while the Thunder slipped to 4-3.

Bourque led all players with  13 kills, her third outing of the young season with double figures in that department, and finished with a keen attack percentage of .632 (13-1—19).  McCall totaled 12 terminations and hit .345 (12-2—29).  Junior Alex Duhl made the most of her offensive opportunities, putting away nine of 14 attempts with no miscues en route to a hitting percentage of .643.  Duhl also finished with four total blocks (1-3).  Senior setter Natalie Schonefeld doled out 22 assists while freshman Dana Holt dished out 18 assists.  Senior Jessica McAlvany topped all players with 15 digs.

Emory hit a season-high .324 (46-12—105) while holding Wheaton to .038 (25-21—106). The Eagles held a 49-43 edge in digs and an 8-2 bulge in total blocks.

The Eagles return to action later this evening with a contest against No. 16-ranked Trinity starting at 7:30 p.m.
