Emory Women's Basketball Defeats Brandeis, 72-55

Box Score

The Emory University women's basketball team picked up its second-straight home conference victory on Friday night, defeating Brandeis University 72-55 at the Woodruff P.E. Center.

Becca Feldman paced the Eagles with a season-best 14 points, eight of which came during the first half.  The junior added on a pair of first-half steals and a rebounds during the contest.

Emory was able to take a slim 30-29 lead into the half, in large part due to the bench, which scored 17 points during the frame.  The Eagles were able to force Brandeis to turn the ball over 12 times in the first half, including eight Emory steals.

After shooting just 30% in the first half, the Eagles shot a blistering 71.4% from the field in the second frame (15-for-21), including five-for-eight from three-point range.  Emory built its lead to as many as 22 points with 4:41 left in the game, utilizing a 29-9 run over a ten-minute stretch in the second half.

Freshman Hannah Lilly added 13 points for Emory, while senior Courtney Von Stein and sophomore Misha Jackson chipped in 11 points apiece.  Sophomore Danielle Landry collected a game-high eight rebounds.

With the win, Emory improved to 9-10 overall, including a 2-6 mark in conference play.  Brandeis dropped to 10-9 overall on the season, and to 2-6 in UAA contests.

The Eagles will return to action on Sunday at 2:00 PM, as Emory will play host to UAA-rival New York University.
