The Emory women's basketball team closed out a University Athletic Association road weekend with a loss at Case Western on Sunday afternoon.  The Eagles saw their overall record fall to 9-13, 2-9 in the conference, following a 66-57 setback to Case who boosted its overall ledger to 12-10, 3-8 in the UAA.

Emory outshot the host Spartans, hitting 45.1 percent from the floor (23-of-51) compared to Case's 37.3 percent (22-of-59).  The big difference came at the foul line where the Spartans converted 16-of-22 while the Eagles sank seven-of-10 tries.  Senior Keenan Whitesides was the lone Emory player to score in double figures with 11 points.  Freshman Danielle Landry and sophomore Becca Feldman chipped in eight points apiece.  Senior Whitney Martin led the team with six rebounds.

Emory trailed by a 32-25 margin with 16:53 left in the game before scoring seven unanswered points and knotting the contest with 14:14 remaining. The Spartans then jumped ahead by a 42-34 margin before a pair of three-point field goals by Melinh Rozen sparked a 7-0 spurt that cut the gap to just one point, 45-44, with 8:34 on the clock.  However, Case then put Emory in hole with a 12-0 sprint, keyed by Evy Iacono's five points to claim a 57-44 cushion with 6:06 left. The Eagles would get as close as seven points on a couple of occasions but the Spartans were able to withstand the charge in sealing the win.  Iacono led all players with 16 points.

Emory returns to action on Friday (Feb. 19) when it entertains New York University in a 6:00 p.m. tip.
