Emory vs. Carnegie Mellon
Emory vs. Case Western
The No. 3-ranked Emory volleyball team closed out the
final day of the University Athletic Association Round Robin I on
Sunday with a pair of victories. The Eagles recorded a 3-0
decision (25-18, 25-15, 25-19) against Carnegie Mellon in the
morning before notching a 3-0 decision (25-15, 25-19, 25-29) over
Case Western in the afternoon. Emory chalked up a 3-0 mark
over the weekend and now stands 16-2 on the campaign (3-0 UAA).
Emory concluded the Carnegie Mellon affair with a 29.8 hitting
percentage (49-15—114) compared to the Tartans' 11.2
percent (25-14—98). The Eagles also finished with a 51-44
edge in digs along with a 5-4 margin in total blocks. Senior
Amelia McCall led a balanced Emory offensive
attack with a match-high 11 kills while also tying for match honors
with 12 digs. Junior Jessica McAlvany
contributed 10 terminations and five digs. Sophomore
Breanah Bourque and junior Ali
Wright aided in the cause with nine and eight kills,
respectively.
McCall came through with another solid all-around performance
against Case, pacing all players with 13 terminations and racking a
team-best 15 digs, a season high for her in that category. It
marked McCall's fifth straight effort of double-digit digs
and sixth double-double of the campaign. McAlvany rang up 10
successful put-aways while Bourque and Wright each adding eight
kills with Wright also posting six total blocks (1-5). Junior
setter Natalie Schonefeld dished out 37 assists
and added eight digs in the victory.
Emory returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 7, with a road match at
USC-Aiken.
