Biography

Junior (2005):

Did not compete in any intercollegiate matches.

Sophomore (2004):

Taylor won her second NCAA national doubles championship, alongwith teammate Mary Ellen Gordon. The two did not drop a set whilewinning the NCAA doubles title. For the second consecutive year,Taylor was the national runner-up in the NCAA singles championship,both times behind teammate Gordon. Taylor was the only player thisyear to win a set from Gordon in the NCAA singles tournament beforefalling 6-4, 6-7 (4), 7-5. As a result, she was first in the finalnational doubles rankings (along with Gordon) and second in thenational singles rankings. Taylor was bestowed All-America honorsin singles and doubles for the second consecutive year. Last fall,Taylor won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) nationalsingles championship. She was voted to the all-conference firstteam in singles and doubles for the second time in as many years.Taylor finished with a 28-5 singles record and a 31-2 doublesrecord. Her 31 doubles victories are the third-highest in schoolhistory and her 28 singles wins are the fourth highest. After twoseasons, her career singles win percentage (.866) puts her on pacefor third place on the Emory all-time list and her career doubleswin percentage (.897) puts her on pace to break the school record.

Freshman (2003):

Taylor became the second freshman in school history to make theAll-America team in singles and doubles. She teamed with Mary EllenGordon to win the NCAA national doubles championship. Taylor alsoadvanced to the finals of the national singles championship beforelosing to Gordon, the first time in Division III women's tennishistory that teammates squared off for the singles title. Taylorwas No. 1 in the final national doubles rankings and No. 2 insingles. Taylor finished her first collegiate season with a 30-4singles record (.882 winning percentage), including 21-3 againstopponents from NCAA Division III national top-20 teams (two ofthose losses were to Gordon, a third was to a two-time NCAAnational singles champion). Her 30 singles wins is the second-bestin school history, best ever by a freshman, and her .882 singleswin percentage is the fifth-best ever at Emory, and the best everby a freshman. Taylor and Gordon finished the season with a 30-5doubles record, including 20-3 against opponents from nationaltop-20 Division III teams. The duo now ranks first in schoolhistory for doubles wins in a season and third for best doubles winpercentage in a season. Last fall at the Intercollegiate TennisAssociation (ITA) championships, Gordon and Taylor won the nationaland regional doubles titles. Taylor was honored as the national andregional Rookie of the Year by the ITA. She was voted to theall-conference first team at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles.
