Senior (2013-14):
Clark capped off her Emory career with her second NCAA DivisionIII Singles Championship, becoming just the fifth player inDivision III Women’s Tennis history and the second in theprogram’s history to win multiple singles titles over acareer. Clark, the tournament’s top-seeded player, went5-0 in the singles draw, winning each of her matches in straightsets, and defeating Amherst’s Jordan Brewer, the third-seededplayer, 6-2, 6-1 to claim the title. She won her final 20singles decisions of the year, finishing the campaign with a 24-4record. Her 108-21 career singles record makes her just thesecond player in school history to break the century mark insingles wins. Clark also teamed with freshman MichelleSatterfield to reach the semifinals of the NCAA DoublesChampionships, marking the fourth-straight season she has advancedat least to the doubles semifinals. Clark was 25-9 overall indoubles action during the year, and ended her career with a 111-34doubles ledger, the most victories in the program’shistory. Against Division III opposition during the season,she was 19-0 in singles matches and 17-3 in doubles contests,ending her career with records of 87-7 in singles (.926 winningpercentage) and 87-17 in doubles (.837 winning percentage) againstD-III opponents. Her 219 career combined victories overallmatch former Eagle Mary Ellen Gordon for the most in theprogram’s history. She was named the NCAA Division IIISenior Player of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association(ITA), becoming just the second Eagle ever to win the award. Clark was also named the University Athletic Association (UAA) MostValuable Player for the third time in her career, and claimed firstteam honors at first singles and doubles, after going undefeated inthree matches during the weekend. Highlights from her regularseason include a win over Columbus State’s Paola Cigui, whowas previously undefeated and ended the season ranked third inDivision II. She was named the UAA Athlete of the Week onfour occasions during the season, and ended her career with 17 UAAAthlete of the Week awards.
Junior (2012-13):
Clark continued to cement her position as one of the top playersin the program’s history during her junior campaign, winningboth the singles and doubles draws at the 2013 ITA Small CollegeNationals to become just the second Eagle in the program’shistory to capture the title in both draws. In addition, wasthe first Eagle since 2003 to win the ITA Division III SinglesDraw, accomplishing the feat for the fourth time overall in theprogram’s history. Teaming with freshman Emma Taylor inthe doubles draw, the duo became the third winning pair in Emoryhistory. In the spring, Clark was named the UniversityAthletic Association’s (UAA) Most Valuable Player for thesecond time in her career, becoming the third Eagle and fifthplayer in the conference’s history to win the award multipletimes. The junior was also selected to the all-UAA First Teamfor her play at first singles and first doubles. At the 2013NCAA Division III Individual Championships, Clark reached thesemifinals of both the singles and doubles draw (teaming withfreshman Annette Sullivan), earning all-America honors for both hersingles and doubles play for the third-straight season. Inthe final ITA National Poll, Clark was third in the singlesrankings and fourth with Sullivan in the doubles rankings. She also was the top-ranked singles player in the Atlantic SouthRegion and ranked second in the region in doubles. During thecourse of the season, Clark was selected as the UAA Athlete of theWeek on six occasions. She finished the year with an overallsingles record of 30-7, matching the second-most victories in asingle season in Emory history, while her 28-7 doubles record wastied for the 11th-most wins by an Eagle in aseason. She was 24-2 in singles matches and 22-4 in doublescontests against Division III opposition in 2012-13, improving to68-7 in singles play and 70-14 in doubles action against DivisionIII players during her career. Clark ended her junior seasonwith 84 career singles wins, the third most in school history, and31 behind the program record. Her 86 career doubles wins arethe fifth-most in school history, and 19 behind the schoolrecord.
Sophomore (2011-12):
Clark became the first African-American woman to win an NCAASingles Championship at any level (Division I, II or III), when sheclaimed a 6-2, 7-6 (1) victory over Lok Sze Leung in thechampionship match. It marked the fourth NCAA SinglesChampionship won by an Emory women's tennis player, as Clark joinedformer Eagles Mary Ellen Gordon (2003 and 2004) and Lorne McManigle(2009) as National Champions. In addition, withEmory's Dillon Pottish winning the singles title on the men'sside, it marked just the fourth time in NCAA Division III historythat the men's and women's singles champions have come from thesame school. Clark ended her season on an 11-match singleswinning streak, including a perfect 10-0 record during the NCAATournament. She also teamed with Zahra Dawson to finishsecond in the doubles draw at the NCAA Championships, falling toLaura Danzig and Gabby Devlin of Amherst College in three setsin the title match. Clark earned all-America status forboth singles and doubles play during the spring, after alsoclaiming all-America honors in the fall by winning the ITA Regionalsingles and doubles draw. After finished second in theDivision III singles draw at the ITA Small College Nationals, shejoined with Dawson to become just the second Emory pairing towin the doubles draw, advancing to the 'Super Bowl' before fallingto the NAIA-winning pair from Oklahoma Christian College. Clark finished the season with a 27-4 record in singles play,including a 26-3 record against Division III opponents, and a 29-8mark in doubles action, including a 26-3 mark against Division IIIfoes. After her sophomore year, she holds a 54-10 career markin singles play (the 20th-most victories and fifth-best winningpercentage in Emory history) and a 58-18 doubles ledger (the20th-most victories and 11th-best winning percentage in theprogram's history). She was named the UAA's Athlete of theWeek on four occassions during the year - September 26th, October17th, March 26th and May 29th.
Freshman (2010-11):
Clark was named an all-America for both her singles and doublesplay during her freshman season, finishing the year ranked secondnationally and first regionally for both singles and doubles. She was also named the ITA NCAA Division III Rookie of the Year,becoming just the third player to earn the honor in the program'shistory, joining former Eagles Mary Ellen Gordon (2001) andJolyn Taylor (2003). Clark completed her inaugural collegiatecampaign with a record of 27-6 in singles play, with her onlylosses to NCAA Division III opponents coming against teammate ZahraDawson during the Fall ITA Regional Tournament finals and toWilliams’ Kristin Alotta in the quarterfinals of the NCAASingles Championships. In doubles play during the season,Clark compiled a 29-10 record, including a mark of 19-5 with LorneMcManigle, who she teamed with to finish second in the NCAA Doublesdraw. She was named the University AthleticAssociation’s (UAA) Most Valuable Player and Rookie of theYear, becoming the third player in conference history to earn bothhonors in the same season along with Gordon and the University ofChicago's Kendra Higgins. Clark was 18-2 during the yearagainst other ranked Division III players, including a mark of 5-0against opponents ranked in the top-five. She was named theUAA Athlete of the Week on March 7th, March 28th, April 4th and May31st.
