Biography

Senior (2005-06):

Hinz, a senior, earned four All-America certificates thisseason.  She earned these certificates with her second placefinish in the 1650-yard freestyle competition, her second placefinish in the 800-yard freestyle relay, her third place finish inthe 500-yard freestyle competition, and her third place finish inthe 400-yard individual medley.  She also earned oneAll-America Honorable Mention.  Hinz has a career total of 10All-America certificates.  Hinz also earned All-Conferencehonors in four events this season including the title of ConferenceChampion in two events.  She earned these titles with wins inthe 400-yard individual medley and the 800-yard freestyle relay

Junior (2004-05):

Hinz, a junior, earned three All-America awards at the NCAAnational championships. Hinz swam a leg on the 800-yard freestylerelay unit that won the national title. Hinz finished third in the400-yard individual medley and eighth in the 500-yard freestyleevent to attain All-America status in both events. Hinz is theseventh-fastest individual in Emory history in the 400-yardindividual medley. Hinz was named the national Swimmer of the Weekby CollegeSwimming.com on November 5, 2004, for her performance theprevious week. She has a career total of six All-Americacertificates. Hinz was seventh on the team out of 39 competitors inpoints scored in dual and championship meets.

Sophomore (2003-04):

Hinz, a sophomore, won the 500-yard freestyle event at the NCAAchampionships to become the seventh Eagle ever to win an individualnational crown. She is the first Emory swimmer to win the nationaltitle in the 500 free. Her winning time of 4:58.31 was a personalbest and the second fastest in school history. At nationals, shefinished second in the 400-yard individual medley at 4:30.25, theninth-fastest time in Emory history. Hinz swam a leg on Emory's800-yard freestyle relay that finished fifth. Hinz earnedAll-America honors in all three events, increasing her career totalto four. She earned All-America honorable mention recognition inthe 1650-yard freestyle. Hinz was conference champion in the 400IM. Hinz was given the team's Most Valuable Performer award. . Shewas second on the team out of 35 competitors in points scored indual and championship meets.

Freshman (2002-03):

Freshman Holly Hinz earned All-America honors in the 400-yardindividual medley by finishing eighth at the NCAA championships.She became the seventh-fastest individual in school history to swimthat event. At the NCAA nationals, Hinz also swam a leg on thethird-place 800-yard freestyle relay. She ranked third out of the33 swimmers on the team in points scored this season in dual andchampionship meets. Hinz was named the conference Athlete of theWeek for her performance the week of October 28-November 3. She washonored as the team's co-Rookie of the Year.
