Biography
Senior (2004-05):
For the third year in a row senior Hillary Lane earned fiveAll-America citations, at the national championships. She has 17career All-America certificates, the most in school history. Laneplaced sixth in the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA nationalchampionships. Lane is the fastest individual in school history inthe 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. She was a member of theAll-American 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays and the 200- and400-yard medley relays. Lane won two individual and two relayevents, at the conference championships.. She placed first in the50- and 100- yard freestyle events and swam a leg on thefirst-place 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay teams.Lane was named the national Swimmer of the Week byCollegeSwimming.com on October 18, 2004 for her performance theprevious week. Lane was the first on the team out of 39 competitorsin points scored in dual and championship meets.
Junior (2003-04):
Junior Hillary Lane earned five All-America citations and was afive-time conference champion. She has 12 career All-Americacertificates, the third most in school history. Lane placed sixthin the 50-yard freestyle and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle atthe NCAA championships. Her time of 52.07 seconds in the 100 freebroke the school record. She was a member of the All-American 200-and 400-yard freestyle relays and the 200- and 400-yard medleyrelays. Lane was conference champion in the 50 free and on fourrelays. She led the team in points scored in dual and championshipmeets.
Sophomore (2002-03):
Sophomore Hillary Lane earned five All-America certificates atthe national meet, the most of any Emory swimmer. She now has sevencareer All-America citations, the eighth most in school history. Atthe NCAA nationals, Lane finished eighth in the 50-yard freestylewith a time of 24.03 seconds, the ninth-fastest time in schoolhistory. She also swam the freestyle leg on four relays thatfinished in the top-eight at NCAA nationals (200 free, 400 free,200 medley and 400 medley). Lane finished the season with thesecond most points scored among the 33 Emory swimmers in dual andchampionship meets. She now holds five of the 10 top times inschool history in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events.
Freshman (2001-02):
Lane was a member of Emory's All-America relay in the 200- and400-yard freestyle events. The former finished third and the latterseventh at the NCAA Division III national championships. At theMiami (Ohio) Invitational in November, Lane broke the school recordin the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events. Lane ranked sixth amongthe team's 37 competitors for points scored in dual andchampionship meets this season.
