Biography

Senior (2013):

Gorodetsky claimed her stake as one of the top defensive playersin the history of NCAA Women’s Soccer at the Division IIIlevel, becoming just the second D-III defender and eighth D-IIIplayer overall to be named a National Soccer Coaches Association ofAmerica (NSCAA) All-American four times.  She was selected tothe NSCAA All-America Third Team in 2013 and the D3Soccer.comAll-America First Team, in addition to claiming a spot on the NSCAAAll-South Atlantic Region First Team.  Gorodetsky also becomethe first University Athletic Association (UAA) women’ssoccer player to be named the conference’s Most ValuablePlayer on three occasions, earning the honor for the third-straightyear and a spot All-UAA First Team for the fourth-straightseason.  She was the leader of an Emory defense that shutout10 opponents and ranked 20th in Division III with a0.557 goals-against average, while limiting the opposition to 8.95shots and 3.3 shots on goal per game.  Offensively, Gorodetskyrecorded a career-best 10 points, coming on four goals and twoassists.  She was named the UAA Athlete of the Week onSeptember 23rd, after scoring three goals (includingboth game winners) and leading the defense to a pair of shutoutsagainst Birmingham-Southern and Berry.  The senior center backearned the conference’s weekly honor again on November11th, following the team’s 3-0 win over23rd-ranked Carnegie Mellon, during which she scored thegame-winning goal and assisted on another.  Gorodetsky alsoassisted on a goal in Emory’s 3-0 win over Brandeis onOctober 20th.  She took 20 shots during the year,including 13 on goal, and led all Emory players with 1,709 minutesplayed during the campaign.  In addition to her plethora ofathletic honors during the season, Gorodetsky was named a CapitalOne Academic All-American, earning a spot on the First Team, andthe NSCAA Scholar All-America Third Team.  She ended hercareer with 83 starts in as many games played, ranking second inschool history in starts and third in games.  Gorodetskyscored 11 goals and assisted on nine others for 31 points, and herseven career game-winning goals are tied for the12th-most in the program’s record book.

Junior (2012):

Gorodetsky cemented her reputation as one of the top players inthe country in 2012, earning D3Soccer.com's Defensive Player of theYear honor, in addition to being placed on both the National SoccerCoaches Association of America (NSCAA) and D3Soccer.com All-AmericaFirst Team.  She became the first three-time all-American inEmory history, and was one of just three three-time selections (andthe only non-senior) on the NSCAA All-America team.  Earlierin the season, she was named the University Athletic Association(UAA) co-Most Valuable Player (sharing the honor with WashingtonUniversity's Anna Zambricki), becoming the first Eagle and fifthUAA women's soccer player to win the honor more than once.  Inaddition, Gorodetsky was named to the all-UAA First Team for thethird-straight season, becoming the seventh Eagle to earn three ormore all-UAA First Team selections, and claimed a spot on the NSCAAAll-South Atlantic Region First Team.  During the NCAATournament, Gorodetsky helped led an Eagles defense that allowedjust three goals in six games, earning the NCAA Tournament MostOustanding Defensive Player award and a spot on the NCAAAll-Tournament Team.  She was one of five players to start all24 games during the year, a school record, and logged 2,241minutes, a program record.  The center back helped theteam record a .461 goals-against average, the 13th-best mark inDivision III, and a 0.583 shutout percentage, the 30th-best mark inthe country.  Gorodetsky and the Eagles defense also heldopponents to 7.1 shots and 3.6 shots on goal per game.Offensively, Gorodetsky finished the year with one goal andfour assists, with the only goal being a game-winning free kickagainst Wheaton College (Ill.) in the NCAA Semifinals.  Shealso assisted on a goal during the Eagles' 2-0 win over DePauwUniversity in the first round of the NCAA Championships, andconverted a penalty kick during the fifth round of the shootout ofthe Eagles' quarterfinal match against Carnegie Mellon, allowingEmory to advance to its first Final Four.  The junior took acareer-high 22 shots during the season, 11 of which were on goal. Gorodetsky was named the UAA Athlete of the Week on September4th, September 24th and December 3rd.  In addition, shewas named to both the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America ThirdTeam and Academic All-District squad for her efforts both on thefield and in the classroom.  Along with teammate KellyCostopoulos, the two became the sixth and seventh AcademicAll-Americans in the history of the Emory women's soccer program,and the 134th and 135th in Emory Athletics history.  Afterthree seasons, Gorodetsky has scored seven goals and assisted onseven others for 21 career points.  Her 64 career gamesstarted are tied for the 18th-most in the program's history (13 shyof Amy Williams' program record) and her 64 games played are 17short of the Emory record (held by Lee Bachouros and MelanieLevy).

Sophomore (2011):

Gorodetsky was one of just nine Division III players to be nameda repeat all-American in 2011, earning a spot on the NSCAAsecond team.  In addition, she was one of just threesophomores to earn all-America status and the only one to be namedto either the first or second team.  Gorodetsky became justthe fifth player in Emory history to become a repeat all-American,joining former Eagles Diana Spock (1993 and 1995), Annie Schenck(2000 and 2001), Andrea Pawliczek (2000 and 2001) and Grace Lam(2007 and 2008).  It was the 16th all-America honorgarnered by Emory players in the program's history.  Earlierin the year, she was named the Most Valuable Player of theUniversity Athletic Association (UAA), becoming just the fourthEmory player to win the award in the team's history.  Shealso earned spots on the all-conference and all-South AtlanticRegion first teams.  Gorodetsky led an Emory defense thatallowed just five goals all season, finishing third among NCAADivision III teams with a 0.242 goals-against average, the bestmark in the program's history.  The Eagles' backline shut outa program-record 16 opponents, good for a 0.8 shutout percentage,also the third-best mark among Division III squads in 2011. Gorodetsky and the Emory defense limited opponents to just 6.35shots per game and 2.6 shots on goal per contest.  Thesophomore contributed offensively as well, scoring four goals foreight points during the year.  Three of her four goals scoredwere game-winning strikes, coming against Birmingham-SouthernCollege on September 16th, Maryville College (Tenn.) on September18th, and the University of the South on September 25th. Starting all 19 games she played in during the campaign, Gorodetskytook 11 shots, six of which were on goal.  She was named theUAA Athlete of the Week on September 19th, October 17th andNovember 14th.  Gorodetsky was recognized for her academicsuccess as well, claiming a spot on the Capital One AcademicAll-District team.

Freshman (2010):

Gorodetsky became the first NCAA Division III freshman in fouryears to be named an all-American, and the first defender since2002, earning a spot on the NSCAA/Performance Subaru all-AmericaSecond Team.  She also became the 11th all-Americanin Emory history, the fifth defender, and the secondfreshman.  Earlier in the year, she also garnered all-SouthAtlantic Region and all-University Athletic Association (UAA) firstteam honors.  Gorodetsky was the center defender for an Emorybackfield that recorded a 0.557 goals-against average in 2010, the23rd-lowest mark among NCAA Division III teams.  The Eaglesrecorded 10 shutouts during the season, while limiting opponents tojust 4.1 shots on goal per game, including 11 games of three shotson goal or less.  Included in that group of contests wereEmory’s first two games of the NCAA Tournament, whereGorodetsky and the Eagles backline held Maryville College andLynchburg College scoreless on four shots, just two on goal, onback-to-back days.  Gorodetsky started all 21 games she playedin during the season, while setting a school record with 1,914minutes player during the year.  She also contributed on theoffensive end of the field, scoring a pair of goals and assistingon three others.  One of her goals came during her firstcollegiate game, helping the Eagles defeat Lee University, theeventual NAIA champions, 2-1 in overtime.  Gorodetsky’sother goal was during the regular season against Maryville College(Tenn.), an NCAA Tournament team, helping Emory to a 3-1victory.  Two of her assisst came in back-to-back gamesagainst UAA opponents Case Western Reserve University and CarnegieMellon University, both Emory victories.  She was twice namedthe UAA’s Defensive Player of the Week during the 2010campaign, once on October 25th, and again on November15th.

Played for four seasons on the Jensen Beach High School soccerteam, serving as the team captain during her junior and senioryears... Was named the Stuart News Player of the Year in 2010...Earned a spot on the All-State First Team in 2010, and was anhonorable mention to the team in 2009... Also earned all-area firstteam honors in 2009 and 2010, and second team honors in 2007... Wascoached by Patty Morris in high school...
