Biography

Senior (2011):

Coates capped off her Emory career with her first post-seasonhonor, earning an honorable mention to the all-University AthleticAssociation (UAA) team.  The second-yearco-captain started all 19 games she played in during the year,finishing the campaign with career highs with two goals and fourassists for eight points.  All four of her assists came inconference play, ranking her second in UAA assists and 10th withfour points.  She led all Eagles during the season with threegame-winning assists, coming against Washington University (Mo.) onOctober 9th, Case Western Reserve University on October 14th, andBrandeis University on October 28th.  Coates added on a secondassist in the Brandeis game, the only multiple-assist game of hercareer.  She finished the year with 17 shots, 12 of which wereon goal, giving her a .706 shot on goal percentage, the highestmark among Emory players with at least 10 shots.  Coatesfinished her Emory career with four goals and five assists for 13points, coming over 77 games played (tied for the fifth-most inEmory history) and 52 starts.

Junior (2010):

Coates tied a school record by playing in all 22 Emory gamesduring the season, starting all but one contest.  The forwardassisted on one goal during the year, coming during the Eagles' 2-0win over Brandeis University on October 17th.  She took 21shots during the year, 13 of which were on goal.

Sophomore (2009):

During her sophomore season, Coates played in 17 games forEmory, making eight starts, including six-straight to end theseason.  Her first collegiate score came in dramatic fashion,as she led the Eagles to a 2-1 win at Birmingham SouthernCollege on September 22nd, scoring with a second left in the firstovertime period.  Coates became the first player in schoolhistory to record a 'golden goal' as her first career goal. She also scored a goal during Emory's 4-2 loss to BrandeisUniversity on October 18th.  Coates took 14 shots during theseason, eight of which were on goal.

Freshman (2008):

Coates played in 19 games for the Eagles during the 2008campaign, making four starts during her first year on thesquad.  The freshman midfielder took five shots during theseason, two of which were on goal.  She also contributed to anEmory defense that ranked 23rd in Division III with a 0.553goals-against average.

Prior to Emory:

Played four seasons on the Cherry Creek High School soccer team,where she was coached by David Paynter. Accumulated 11 goals and 19assists over her 50-game high school career. Was an Athletic Awardfinalist prior to arriving at Emory. Also played for club teamLittleton United, where she was coached by Steve Ekman.
