Liz Fernandes

In her first season as head coach, the Eagles earned another berth to the NCAA Championships where they took home a second place finish. After taking home a second place finish at the UAA Championships in October, Emory took a break before starting competition back in the spring against primarily Division I competition. Finishing the regular season, the Eagles finished second at the Stith Invitational and first at the Deb Jackson Invitational before competing at the NCAA Championships. She mentored Sharon Mun to a First Team All-America nod with teammates Carys Code and Ellen Dong earning honorable mention acclaim. Five Eagles were named WGCA Southeast All-Region members while Fernandes was tabbed WGCA Southeast Region Coach of the Year.

The Eagles added more hardware to the trophy case in Fernandes' second season with another NCAA Championship title added to the list. Carys Code also made history as the second Eagle in program history to win the individual NCAA Championship title. Emory also won the UAA Championship title during the fall defeating the No. 1 ranked Carnegie Mellon Tartans. Fernandes helped mentor four All-Americans during her second season and six All-Region Selections while being tabbed the WGCA National Coach of the Year. She also helped lead Zimo Li who was named the UAA and the WGCA Freshman of the Year for her historic season. 

Fernandes joins the Eagles after a stint as assistant coach with the University of Louisville during the 2022-23 season.

A 2012 graduate of Northern Kentucky University, Fernandes has been working in the game of golf as an assistant golf professional, a college coach and a teaching professional since obtaining her degree. Prior to her time with the Cardinals, Fernandes spent time as a golf fitness specialist and teaching professional at notable courses around the country including The Quarry in La Quinta, California and Scarsdale Golf Club in Hartsdale, New York. In those roles, she was tasked with player development through private, group, clinic instruction and developed academy's, on course clinics, and mental side strategy. She also gained exposure in improving golf performance by working with body movement and developing individual programming for the body and strength.

In addition to her time at Louisville, Fernandes has coaching stops at Spalding University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where she focused on redesigning the practice plan, analyzing tournament statistics and administration, and improving recruitment.

Fernandes is Titleist Performance Institute Level 2 certified, Positive Coaching Alliance, US KIDS & Operation 36 certified, and TaylorMade club fitting, Callaway club fitting, Flightscope, Trackman, and V1 Pro certified.
