Senior (2008-09):
Closed out an excellent career by becoming the first Emorymen's player to capture the NCAA Division III Singles Championship... Posted a 5-0 record in the singles portion of the Championshipsand defeated Ben Stein of Bates College in the finals, 7-5, 5-7,6-1 ... Was chosen by the ITA as the National Senior Player of theYear ... Ended the year with an overall singles mark of 18-11 ...Held down the No. 1 singles spot for the fourth straight campaignand recorded a dual record of 10-10 ... Helped the Eagles to theNational Indoor Championships by capturing singles matches againstfoes from Mary Washington and Claremont-Mudd Scripps ... Camethrough with a 6-4, 6-4 singles victory over UC-Santa Cruz's MaxLiberty-Point in the NCAA team semifinals that knotted the match at4-4 ... Teamed with younger brother, Chris, to capture the ITARegional Doubles Championship ... The Goodwin brothers captured thedoubles crown in the Divsion III portion of the Small CollegeNational Championships, the first Emory pair ever to achieve that... The pair ended the season with a 23-7 doubles record (19-6dual) ... The Goodwins ended 2008-09 as the No. 7-ranked doublesteam in the nation and the No. 1 pair in the Atlantic South Region... All-American in both singles and doubles.

Junior (2007-08):
Held down the No. 1 singles spot for the third straight season andconcluded the year with an overall record of 17-10 (13-9 dual) ...Earned All-America recognition for the second straight season inboth singles and doubles.  Goodwin, along with Oliver Lopp,captured the doubles crown at the ITA Regional Championshipsdefeating teammates Hardy Ehlers and Oliver Lopp in the title match... The Rockville, Maryland, native also garnered All-America kudosin singles ... Was selected as the UAA Most Valuable Player ...First Team All-UAA at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles ... Hugeeffort at the UAA Championships where he went undefated in bothsingles and doubles play (played with David Capln) ... Recorded athrilling 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 decision over Washington University's JohnWatts at No. 1 singles ... Would later defeat Watts again, 6-4,6-3, at the NCAA Team Championships ... Rose to the occasion in theNCAA Tournament, winning three of five singles matches (twounfinished) and four of five doubles outings ... Named UAA Playerof the Week on two occasions.

Sophomore (2006-07):
Earned All-America honors by virtue of his championshipperformance at the ITA South Atlantic Region Championships ...Finished runner-up at the Small College National Championships ...Finished the year with an overall record of 25-9 ... Posted a 17-7won-lost mark in dual matches, all at the No. 1 post ... Teamedwith Yoji Masuoka to the championship match of the NCAA D-IIINational Championships ... Concluded the year ranked as the No. 1singles player in the South Region by the ITA and was No. 9nationally ... Was tabbed as the UAA Player of the Week on threeoccasions.

Freshman (2006):
Michael Goodwin, who was named the ITA Rookie of the Year,finished 23-6 in his first season as an Emory Eagle.  Playingprimarily at No. 1 singles, Goodwin finished 17-4, 1-0 at No. 2 and1-0 at No. 3.  He was also 3-0 in UAA matches and 4-1 in ITAmatches.  The freshman competed in seven three-set matches,holding a record of 4-3, while going 2-0 in third-settiebreakers.  In doubles play he finished with a 25-7 record,including 15-3 with Yoji Masuoka at the No. 1 position.  Theduo qualified for NCAA championships, before losing in thesemifinals. Named freshman of the year in the UAA, while alsoearning first team honors for No. 1 singles and second team for No.1 doubles.

Prior to Emory:
Played for four years on the Richard Montgomery HighSchool tennis team.... Named the captain for the 2004 & 2005seasons... Was a number one singles player for four seasons,compiling a 100-4 record... Was the state champion as asophomore... Finished third in the state as a junior, and second inthe state as a senior... Was coached by John Fahner... Formerlyranked seventh in the nation in the 14 and under group, 32nd in the16 and under group and 35th in the 18 and under group... Playedbasketball in high school as well.
