Biography

Senior (2005):
Jacobs received All-America honors in doubles for thefourth time, a first in school history (he shares the distinctionwith teammate Mark Odgers). Jacobs and Odgers were the No. 2 seedfor the NCAA Division III national doubles championship, where theduo was eliminated in the round of 16. They were fourth in thefinal national doubles rankings compiled by the IntercollegiateTennis Association (ITA) and first in the regional rankings. Jacobswas part of the tandem that finished fifth at the ITA nationalchampionships and won the ITA regional championship. Together, theycompiled a 21-6 record in doubles competition. In singles play,Jacobs was 39th in the final national ITA singles rankings and 10thin the regional singles rankings. He had a 14-3 singles record forthe season, including an 8-1 record against opponents from nationaltop-25 Division III teams. His career singles record of 69-13(.841) set a school record for best career win percentage andplaced him 10th on the all-time list for career singles wins (tyingOdgers). He is second in school history for career doubles wins(81) and sixth for career doubles win percentage (.750). In hiscareer, Jacobs compiled a 22-2 singles record and 20-4 doublesrecord at the conference and national team championships combined.He was selected to the all-conference team in singles for the thirdtime and in doubles for the fourth time.

Junior (2004):
For the third consecutive year, Jacobs made theAll-America team in doubles. He and partner Mark Odgers finishedfourth in the final national doubles rankings. The duo received thetop seed for the NCAA doubles championship where they reached thequarterfinals. Jacobs was the lone Emory player to make theall-conference first team in singles (No. 3 slot), his secondcareer all-conference singles citation. He was chosen to theall-conference team in doubles for the third time. Jacobs compileda season won-loss record of 19-2 overall in singles, including aperfect 17-0 in the No. 3 singles position. His season singles winpercentage, .905, is the fifth best in school history. Jacobs was17-5 in doubles this season, including a perfect 10-0 mark againstopponents from nationally ranked top-25 teams. Entering his seniorseason, Jacobs is on pace to finish with the best career singleswin percentage, .846, in school history, and the third-best careerdoubles win percentage, .741. He ranks 19th on the Emory all-timelist with 55 career singles wins and 10th with 60 career doubleswins.

Sophomore (2003):
Sophomore Alex Jacobs teamed with fellow sophomore MarkOdgers to earn All-America honors in doubles for the secondconsecutive year, the third pair in Emory history to do so, butfirst to do so as underclassmen. Jacobs and Odgers advanced to thesemifinals of the NCAA Division III doubles national championship.In the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Fall championships,Jacobs and Odgers won the regional title for the second consecutiveyear, the first Emory pair ever to repeat as regional champions,and finished second at the ITA national championships. The pair ofJacobs and Odgers was ranked third among Division III doubles teamsin the final national poll. Jacobs had a record of 22-6 (.785winning percentage) in doubles competition, the sixth-most doubleswins in a season in school history and the 16th best season winningpercentage ever by an Eagle. Jacobs is on pace to break the schoolrecord for best doubles career winning percentage with a currentcareer doubles record of 43-16 (.729 winning percentage). Insingles competition, primarily at No. 4 singles, Jacobs finishedthe season with a record of 17-3 (.850), the 12th-best seasonsingles win percentage ever by an Eagle. Jacobs finished 25th inthe final regional singles rankings and first in the regionaldoubles rankings along with Odgers. He made the all-conferencefirst team at No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles, the first time hehas been selected for the first team.

Freshman (2002):
Jacobs teamed up with Mark Odgers at No. 1 doubles to earnAll-America honors. The two had a 21-10 doubles record and placedfourth in the final national doubles rankings. In singles play,Jacobs was 19-5, primarily in No. 3 slot, and was 19th in the finalregional singles rankings. Jacobs was 18-2 in singles againstDivision III opponents and 12-1 against players from nationaltop-20 Division III teams.
