Biography
Senior (2005-06):
Hake, a senior, earned the title of National Champion for thesecond consecutive year. This season he earned his firstNational Champion title in an individual event with his win in the100-yard butterfly. Hake earned four All-America certificatesthis year, placing him first all-time in school history with17. His All-America certificates this season were earned withhis first place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, his fourth placefinish in the 200-yard butterfly, his fourth place finish in the200-yard freestyle relay, and his fifth place finish in the200-yard medley relay. Hake also earned an All-AmericaHonorable Mention honor with his ninth place finish in the 400-yardfreestyle relay. Hake earned the title of Conference Championin four events this season. These titles came with his winsin the 100-yard butterfly, the 200-yard freestyle relay, the200-yard medley relay, and the 400-yard medley relay.
Junior (2004-05):
Hake, a junior, earned a national championship honor this seasonby swimming a leg on the 200-yard medley relay team, the firstrelay team in school history to win a national championship. Hakeearned five All-America certificates this year placing him thirdall-time at Emory with 13 for his career. He earned an All-Americacertificate by placing fourth in the 100-yard butterfly. Hake alsoearned All-America honors in four relay events (200-free, 400-free,200-medley, and 400-medley). Hake time in the 100-yard fly at theUniversity of Georgia Fall Invitational was the fastest on the teamthis season for that event. He currently holds the top four fastesttimes for this event in school history. Hake was third on the teamof 40 competitors in points scored in dual and championship meets.
Sophomore (2003-04):
Hake, a sophomore, earned four All-America citations for thesecond year in a row. He placed third in the 100-yard butterfly atthe national championships, the highest finish in that event inschool history. His time of 48.54 seconds in the 100 fly is thesixth fastest ever swum in an NCAA championship finals. Hake alsoswam legs on three All-America relays: 200- and 400-yard medley and200-yard free. He earned All-America honorable mention with hisninth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. Hake broke the schoolrecord in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.54 seconds. Hehad the third-highest season points total on the team out of 32competitors.
Freshman (2002-03):
The freshman began his Emory career by earning four All-Americacertificates in four events (one individual, three relay). Hefinished eighth in the 100-yard butterfly at the NCAA nationalchampionships. Hake was a member of top-eight finishes in the200-yard freestyle relay, and 200- and 400-yard medley relays. Hesurpassed the NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 100-yardbackstroke and both butterfly events (100 and 200). Hake finishedseventh among the team's 32 competitors for most points earned indual and championship meets. He had the team's top time in the100-yard butterfly this season with a time of 49.51 seconds, whichis the third fastest in Emory history.
