Biography
Senior (2004-05):
Press, a senior, acquired his first national championship honoras a member of the 200-yard medley relay team. Press achieved fourAll-America certificates this season. His other three All-Americahonors came in the 200-, 400-, and 800-yard freestyle relays. Pressends his career at Emory with a total of 12 All-Americacertificates, the fourth highest in Emory history. Press's time inthe 50-yard freestyle at the University of Georgia FallInvitational was the fastest on the team in that event this season.Press graduates with the fastest time in school history in the 50free and the third-fastest time in the 100 free. Press was fourthamong 40 competitors on the team this season in points scored indual and championship meets.
Junior (2003-04):
Junior Christopher Press tied the school record for mostAll-America citations earned in a season with five: two inindividual events and three in relays. Press placed eighth in boththe 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly at the nationalchampionships. He also swam legs on the All-America 200 and 400free relays, and 200 medley relay. Press finished the season as theteam leader with 339 points scored in dual and championship meets.He broke the school record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of21 seconds flat.
Sophomore (2002-03):
Press was honored with his third All-America certificate as amember of the 200-yard freestyle relay that finished fifth at theNCAA national championships. He also earned honorable mentionAll-America in three events (100- and 200-yard butterfly, and400-yard freestyle relay). Press finished ninth among the team's 32competitors for most points earned in dual and championship meets.He is the fourth-fastest individual in school history in both the50- and 100-yard freestyle events.
Freshman (2001-02):
Press was a member of two All-America relays, both of whichbroke the school record. He swam on the 200-yard freestyle relaythat finished sixth at the NCAA national championships and on theeighth-place 400 freestyle relay.
