The No. 8 ranked Emory women's soccer team hosted Christopher Newport for their home opener Friday night, playing to a 1-1 draw to move to 4-0-2 on the season.
The Eagles led the offensive attack throughout the match as they outshot the Captains 19-5 with five shots on goal and led 8-1 in corner kicks on the day.
Sophomore
Siena Elder scored the lone goal for the Eagles in the 66
th minute, knocking it in off the corner kick from
Kaitlyn Nimmer to get the Eagles on the board.
CNU only recorded one shot after Elder's strike, but Anaya Lozano found the equalizer in the 80
th minute for the Captains as she belted a kick over a leaping
Rachel Carr for the equalizer.
Despite last ditch efforts from
Madison Teng and
Sophia Asiain, the defensive battle ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
The Eagles will return to the WPEC on Tuesday night as they take on Sewanee at 7 p.m.
