Five Emory University student-athletes were tabbed as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of March 30 – April 5.
Sophomore Ari Klasky had another dominant week for track & field, breaking the program shot put and discus records for the third consecutive week. He took second in the shot put with a 17.39m mark and third in discus with a 49.76m mark. This is Klasky's third week at the top of the UAA in both events.
For women's field, freshman Abigail Roberts had an amazing day at the Dooley Elite on Saturday, winning the women's hammer throw with a mark of 53.61m to break the program record for the first time in 24 years. The freshman now holds the top mark in the UAA for the event.
Senior Izzy Antanavicius went 2-0 at No. 3 singles and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles as women's tennis went 1-1 against a pair of top 10 teams this weekend in Pittsburgh. In singles, Antanavicius posted straight set results against her counterparts from Carnegie Mellon (6-0, 6-3) and Bowdoin (6-4, 6-4) while she teamed with junior Yanire Marte for wins of 6-4 and 7-6 (4) in both matches.
Freshman Owen Stone was superb in his first career start as he led Emory baseball to a 7-1 win over CWRU in the second game of Friday's doubleheader. Stone worked eight innings of one run ball to improve to 4-0 on the season. He allowed four hits and one walk in the outing while striking out four Spartans.
Sophomore Zimo Li had a great performance at the Georgia State Invitational, taking fourth in the individual standings with a tournament total 216 (E) over three rounds. Li's score helped the Eagles secure second place on the team leaderboard amongst a field of Division I programs.
