Three Emory University student-athletes were tabbed as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of April 20-26.
Freshman Sydney Thune threw the 18th no hitter in Emory Softball history against NYU last Friday, throwing five innings in the Eagles' 13-0 mercy rule win. Thune struck out seven Violets over her 15 outs to improve to 9-3 on the season. On Wednesday, Thune also picked up the win against No. 9 Huntingdon as she worked through 4.2 innings in the circle, striking out three while allowing two earned runs.
Junior Addison Kwong had a great week at the plate, going 6-16 with five RBI, two triples and a double over four games as Emory toppled the nationally-ranked Hawks and NYU. In Emory's 13-0 win against NYU, Kwong went 1-4 with three RBI and a double to shut out the Violets.Â
In his final collegiate start, senior Josh Zuckerman left it all out on the field as he tossed the first complete shutout of the nine inning variety of his career in Emory's 2-0 win over Brandeis on Friday. Zuckerman threw 139 pitches to record 27 outs while striking out a season-high 12 batters in the win. He worked around five hits, three walks and one hit-by-pitch in his masterful outing.
