The No. 22 Emory University women's soccer team closed out the regular season on a strong note Saturday afternoon, defeating visiting University of Rochester 3-1 in front of the WoodPEC faithful in Atlanta.
Prior to the start of the game, the Eagles honored their senior class of Rachel Carr, Stella Gall, Jessica Nastasi, Kaitlyn Nimmer, Kaitlin Ogilvie, Zia Tomlin, Madison Teng, Leah Wang and Katie Hungness with a special on-field ceremony.
With the win, the Eagles reach double digits in the win column and conclude the regular season with an overall record of 10-3-5 as well as a 2-3-2 inside conference play.
Providing a spark off the bench was junior Mikayla Camp as she broke the scoreless game in the 30th minute with her set piece opportunity from 23 yards out for her seventh goal of the game.
The 1-0 lead was brief however as the Yellowjackets found the equalizer just minutes later when precision cross-field pass led to a goal from Jane Mueller in the 37th minute.
The score remained deadlocked until the 58th minute when a cross from Nimmer found the head of a Rochester defender and deflected backwards and over the UR keeper for the go-ahead own goal.
Teng provided the finishing touches on the victory in the 87th minute when she scored from close range off the feed from Camp to close out the 3-1 win.
The Eagles will find out their NCAA postseason fate on Monday, November 9th when the tournament field is announced on NCAA.com at 11:30 AM ET.
