Emory Athletics Weekly Preview: 10/5 - 10/11

Men's Golf:
The Emory men's golf team is headed to Indianapolis, IN this week for the Wabash Invitational, with the team set to play 54 holes at Broadmoor Country Club.

The team is coming off a third place finish at the NCAA Fall Preview at the end of September, ending the tournament with a 285 (E) in the final round to record the lowest team round on the final day. Newcomer Jeffrey Rubenstein finished in the top 15 on the individual leaderboard for the Eagles, tying for 12th with a 210 (-3) through 54 holes.

Men's Tennis:
The Emory men's tennis team will play the all-Eagle ITA South Regional doubles final match on Tuesday at the WPEC.

The Eagles had a stellar weekend in Memphis, setting the stage for an all-Emory singles and doubles semifinal slate. Junior Ajay Kartik defeated graduate transfer Mitchell Deames 6-3, 6-4 to win his first ITA regional singles title.

Kartik and Sammy Nieder will face Deames and Juno Pethe in the doubles final on Tuesday afternoon.

The No. 9 ranked Emory women's soccer team will hit the road to take on Covenant Tuesday evening before returning home to face UAA foe Brandeis on Saturday at 1:30.

The Eagles are coming off a rainy conference opener last Saturday at home, falling to No. 23 Carnegie Mellon 2-0 in their first loss of the season.

Men's Soccer:
The RV Emory men's soccer team are hosting Piedmont and Brandeis this week at home before their four-game stretch on the road. The Eagles will face the Lions on Tuesday at 6:00 before taking on the Judges Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

The team is coming off a statement upset win over No. 20 ranked Carnegie Mellon, taking down the Tartans 2-0 at home to open conference play. Senior Logan Steren netted the first goal for the Eagles in the 55th minute before sophomore Jeremiah Cateau delivered the second strike from distance in the 77th minute thanks to an assist from classmate Justin Buchwalter. Senior goalie Geoffrey Halpern held off the Tartans as he delivered four saves on the day to secure the shutout victory.

Swimming and Diving:
The No. 4 ranked men's and No. 3 ranked women's swimming and diving teams will divide and conquer this weekend as the swimmers head to Queens University of Charlotte and the divers head to West Florida for the Moultrie Diving Camp.

The Eagles are coming off their first dual meet of the season at crosstown foe Georgia Tech where the Eagles fell 90-206. The team saw three event wins on the day that all came from the women's side of the meet, with freshman Aubrey Mitchell notching her first win in the Blue and Gold with a time of 2:05.15 in the 200 Fly. Junior Caitlin Crysel followed that with her win in the 50 Freestyle at 24.40 while senior Emma Lunn delivered the third and final win of the day in the 200 Backstroke with her time of 2:07.10.

Volleyball:
The No. 17 ranked Emory volleyball team is headed to New York City for the second UAA Round Robin of the season, facing Rochester and No. 6 ranked Carnegie Mellon in a Sunday doubleheader.

The Eagles are coming off a 3-0 road win against LaGrange over the weekend, with sophomore Ella Moore leading the charge with 14 kills on the day. Her classmate Norah McNichols led the team in assists on the match with 22 as the team hit .261 on the day with 47 total kills, four service aces and 42 digs.
