Late Goal Propels Women's Soccer Past Lynchburg, 1-0

Box Score

Senior Grace Reyer scored in the 84th minute to propel the No. 24 ranked Emory University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over the University of Lynchburg Sunday afternoon in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Eagles applied pressure early and often as they controlled the possession game throughout to earn their fourth win of the year. Emory finished with a 26-2 advantage in shots and a 12-1 edge in shots on target.

Graduate student Kylie Hall, who set the Emory career record for assists on Friday night, nearly opened the scoring on Sunday with a penalty kick opportunity in the game's ninth minute. However, Hall's attempt drew the post and kept the game scoreless.

The Eagles had several more chances in the first half, heading into the locker room with a 15-0 lead in shots but the score was knotted at 0-0 at the end of the first 45.

The go-ahead goal came late in the contest as Reyer headed in the game-winner at the 83:25 mark off the cross from freshman Kaitlyn Nimmer. The goal was Reyer's second of the campaign.

Emory, now 4-1 on the season, will be back at home Thursday night with another regional rivalry matchup against Centre College. Kickoff with the Colonels is set for 7:00 pm at WoodPEC.
